New Tyres Again for my 2004 E55!! What do you all recommend?

Hi All

Need a bit of help!

I have just had a look at my tyres and it looks like I need a complete new set and I haven't even done quite 13K on my last set!! I know its an E55 but to be honest I don't go tearing around.

I went through a similar search last year and I don't want to spend a fortune as it seems that none are going to last too long! So want a mid price range set, so what would you all recommend?

The rears are evenly worn and on the limit! The fronts however are more worn on the inner edges only. MB have checked the geometry and said all within limits so.... I have heard they do chew the inner edges.

The tyres I went for last time were the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas, which look nice and all that and drive ok but 13K miles seems pretty low. I was looking at the Kumho Ecsta KU39 which seem pretty much same price as the Vredesteins, anyone have any thoughts on these or others? I would want some with rim edge protection.

Cheers

I run Conti 5p's..........you have managed to get 13k!!!!! Lucky you! I bet most don't get that much. I drive like I'm driving miss daisy (most of the time) so perhaps I am not the right person to answer...plus I do very little mileage each year. Might be worth looking to see if Hankook do their V12 evo's in your size.

Try here too.

Thanks, I did have a quick look at the Hankooks although they seem a bit pricier, but haven't searched much.

So you think 13K miles is good going then, there's me thinking I must have a heavier foot than I realised!!!

13,000 miles, that's 2 sets of rears for me during that time! For the fronts have a chat with the guys at wheels-inmotion they may well be able to resolve your inner tyre wear even if others have failed.

Michelin Supersports all day long.

Full set of 19" on mine were just over a Grand.

Best tyre I've ever had and the longevity is supposed to be brilliant but being as these are my first set I can't comment as of yet.

However that would only be a bonus as the wet & dry weather grip is outstanding as is the lack of noise.

goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 2 for me, I went from Conti Sport 2's and could not believe the difference in the wet and a nice ride quality as well. I will be sticking with these next time.

I second that, expensive but worth it.

My first set of Yoko's lasted 7000 miles. These Supersports have done 9000miles including two track days and have 4mm left on them.

Have a look at ears motorsport on ebay. I have just bought 2 235/45/17 Yokohama c drive for £187-99 with free delivery. I looked at reviews and they did not seem a bad tyre for the money. They have a lot of other brands so you may find somthing to suit at a reasonable price.

Cheers - I've heard good things previously about them, to be honest I've never been overly convinced the MB dealer knows what they are on about!

Seems like 13K is pretty good then!!!

Kumho's KU39 is a softer compound than the Verd's, so would provide more grip but you'd then get less than 13k.

Againg because Yoko use a softer compound to produce grip & feel.

Sounds like I should avoid the Kumho's then, what about the Falken 452, can get them for a reasonable price at Camskill.

I'm running my e-cab Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta 19s and love them, okay they're on my summer wheels so I only cover a few thousand a year in them but day and night better compared to the contisports on my amg 18s.

13k miles from a set of rears on an E55 though.... thats very good going!
