300 CE twin turbo

A Turbo Technics twin turbo with a boot full of ICE and low miles (47481)

I dont understand how a car could have so much spent on it then be allowed to stand for 2 years because of a head gasket, get that done and increase it's value substantially I would have thought

So immaculate it's headlight wiper arms are missing and it's got three 8 holes and 1 15 hole fitted, could have had a puncture I suppose!

On the plus side the engine bay looks immaculate. Mmmm, do I want another 'project'?
If the price stays lowish I might just have to bid. The expansion tank looks like it's not had any water in it for a while so I guess the head problem was quite serious. I wonder what other damage was done to it? If it was run without water for any length of time the engine, gearbox and turbos could be completely shot.

Surely worth a bid, even if it is ruined you could sell off the parts that still worth to cover the costs?

Yes, same turbos (but not the same intake or electronics obviously). Although the turbos look good you need to make sure that the head problem hasn't damaged them. Mark300SL is the best man to advise whether this could be the case

One question - can you take the plate off the car without an MOT?

I didn't think you could normally, but maybe the rules are different if you transferred the cherished plate to the vehicle to start with?

Looks quite tidy aside from the obvious - shame they didn't fix it and left it standing for so long.

If you need a new pair of T2s, I might sell the ones from my 300CE TT (only travelled <100km since rebuild and 3000km since new). I'm still undecided on the sanity of upgrading the turbos on my car while I'm living overseas and can't drive it.

Janner is probably right, but something is niggling me that they may be different. Alan Jeffrey, Turbo Technics or Hughes of Beaconsfield can confirm:

The turbos would be the same. They are the same in all the hughes supplied kits. The only difference is the way the waste gates are setup.

Yea but there has 2 be a cheaper way of doing it, rather than buying a car. Contact mark300sl, i know he was thinking of swapping his turbos for larger ones.
