Go to the Usenet newsgroup alt.binaries.fonts. Post a message asking politely if anyone can help you with the Optima family of fonts, or one of the free fonts that resembles Optima. With any luck, someone will post the binary file within hours for you to save.

Remember that you might need several versions (Optima medium, Optima medium italic, Optima bold, Optima bold italic etc.)

ok - now I feel really thick - having never delved into alt. or news groups of any sort whatsoever - and news:alt.whatver fires up OE on my laptop (which isnt installed)... and googling the link just brings up lists of lists (my pet hate)

Try Googling Optima on Wiki. As Optima is a commercial font there are ££ involved but there should be half a dozen free clones of it with different names. Wikipedida is pretty good at pointing at the free versions.
