Approved used service - warranty.

Brought my 2013 C204 in April last year, B service is now due; dilemma is, pay 600 for Merc to do it or pay around 200 for someone else to do exactly the same service.?

However burning question is, if anything is found wrong at Mercedes would they repair it under their warranty or would I be charged for it?

Does anyone know how this would work please? MOT not due until April.

Thanks

Was it a two year warranty?

Could always do a service plan if you plan to keep it for three years, now would be a good time to start as it's a large service. If not only other place would me a Mercedes Indy

Get the MOT done at the main dealer before your service. The MOT will cost the same (or similar) to any other garage, and they can fix anything they find under warranty.

Get your service done wherever you feel provides the best value for money, based upon what is important to you. Shop around though and ask for a price if you supply your own oil, and you'll find the price tumbles

PS did you ask the main dealer and independent garages to quote for the same additional items which are due at 4 years, I've brake fluid, spark plugs (if petrol), etc?

Local Independants near me are quoting about 280 for a B service but the 4th year one requires in addition , brake fluid change, air filter and fuel filter which would be extra.
So make sure any comparison is based on like for like

Yes because if you try to cease the contract prematurely, ie without making all due payments, then you'll have to settle the balancing figure.

PS main dealers sometimes use bill shock when settling a big service bill as a way of selling the service contracts, so some are taken out on the day of the service!

Its worth exploring the service plan option, your Mercedes Mobilo, breakdown and recovery, is automatically renewed on completion of the annual service, saves having any approved used warranty concerns, the plan would cover the service and additional items as required and includes the auto box oil and filter change if due at service interval and get the added benefit of being able to pass on any unused services if you sell your car if paid in full.

I think when I signed up they said there was a three month period before a service but I'm sure mine was a month after I signed up

You'll need to double check but it isn't long and you should be alright

Of course you can as it is money in their bank account instead of yours.

If you have purchased two services paid for over 24 months or three services paid for over 36 months, the first service covered by your Plan must be at least three months after the Commencing Date.
