I use the Autel MaxiDiag EU702. It reads an resets generic OBD2 codes, and can also read and reset some MB-specific systems such as SRS/Airbags and ESP/ABS. The latter are important because generic OBD2 only covers engine and transmission codes.

It is a bit pricey though compared to basic OBD2 scanners/code-readers, the cost is around £150 pn eBay or £170-180 from online shops.

One othe thing - Autel say that it only covers MB cars up to 2006-2008 (though presumably this only relates to the MB-specific items - I imagine that ODB2 will work on all cars. This may be an issue if you intent to buy a newer Merc in the near future.

I also have a Autel EU702...it will NOT even read the ECU on the European "C" Class Mercs with the 36 pin ports prior to 2001 such as the C180/C200/C220/C230/C40 etc' but I have used it on a lot of other Mercs with the 16 port that were 2000 onward but I do know there are some newer models that it will not read. I now have a Toughbook with Carsoft installed which reads the ECU using a Mercedes multi-plexer as the interface and does a lot more than the hand held scanners..

I have looked at my own 702 and the W210 E320 is on the list of what it will read.
