Original Paintings

My daughter recently was asked by a gallery to produce a number of oil/acrylic paintings for display and or sale. When push came to shove the gallery only displayed some of them because of space constraints and therefore only a few sold. My daughter now has the following paintings left unsold. All of the paintings are original one offs.

Has anyone any experience of how best to sell these paintings, does anyone on here own a gallery or gift shop, is anyone on here interested in one?

Any ideas, comments help greatfully received as she is feeling a bit let down by her experience of the art world so far. Any advice welcome.

First reaction was to sell the top 2 to your local Citroen and Audi dealers.

Then I tried to be sensible. Quite hard. But I tried.

What's to stop you putting on your own exhibition? Get a local hotel to display them for a few weeks in their foyer?

If you bought your MB from a main dealer, get the dealer to exhibit them on one of their open evenings.

If a % goes to a popular local charity you might find the hotel/dealership/whatever quite receptive, and the local paper will love a feature "local artist raises money for hospice" or whatever.

Ebay? "art originals"

Must stop being sensible now... my head is starting to hurt.

Hi Greg

Maybe a very rough idea re sizes and very rough prices would help? Of course a problem here is shipping costs - or are they in tubes?

Just to add they look very good and I really quite like a few of them. Sadly not interested, but nice work.

Looks good Greg,

I think this one is very striking:

Good luck to her, I think we've all seen 'worse' artwork by some very famous people!

Have a look at this site for ideas and inspiration:

CAKUart is Original Art and Inspiration

I am in the process of setting up a website to sell my own work (portraits). Your daughter is very welcome to have some space on my site if that helps.
If the mods do not mind I can pm you the link.

My daughter is out but that one is the biggest one, 30 inches by 24inches. I think she was hoping to sell the biggest one for about 50.

The smallest ones were 15 (I think-shes not in)

The multi ones are 3 pictures each of about 8 inches squares, the biggest one is 30x24 inches. All of her pictures are canvases ie can't be rolled up but I guess she can parcel them up for postage. The prices were all under 50 dependent on size.

Thanks for everyones ideas and input. There are several bits of progress to report! Firstly we were talking to another possible retailer who may well be interested and they also referred us to a gallery which our council is opening to help local artists. This might give her two possible outlets.

Free P&P also now included.

the bottom right does not quiet line up

Suzy Cute and I have just taken delivery of 2 paintings from Emma/Greg. I really would urge people to snap up whatever are left as they are very, very good at a keen price. And who knows - one day they may even appreciate! Maybe a farcical comparison but many artists that now sell for enormous sums of money once gave paintings in exchange for a meal!

Bravo Emma, Bravo!
