One is to throw an egg backwards while running towards a line and the other is to hit a ball with a piece of wood and then run.

Not quite quantum physics.

But more technical than aimlessly running around then falling over and pretending to be hurt!

A bit like popping 'blood' capsules in your mouth to feign injury...

Rugby league isn't too bad though, they are athletes at least and not big lumps that wander around the pitch, huffing and puffing like old men.

And neither can I understand why we have to put up with all the negativity against the best British tennis player since Fred Perry. What is it with this country that we feel a need to criticise success gained on the back of a massive amount of hard work?

Can you appreciate the irony?

Nope. What connection is there between GB's footballers and success (other than financial of course!) Or is that the irony to which you refer - that they can be paid a fortune for being unsuccessful?

Oh hang on, I get it now, of course, we're British so we have to praise the losers and berate the winners. Sorry, my mistake.

Note to self: Must stop being delighted that England's cricketers are the No. 1 Test and Twenty20 sides, and at the moment thrashing the No.1 ODI side.

Winning the Champions League could be defined as success, no?

Being intentionally obtuse doesn't mean you're right.

Chelsea didn't do too badly in the Champions League.

A few years ago Neil Hodgson won the world superbikes so the uk had a WORLD CHAMPION and yet this was not even mentioned on national news. Some idiot kicks a ball about and it's on every news bulletin for weeks

We've also had a number of World champions in sailing, but it's a sport that's never covered on TV, we just get wall to wall coverage of football on the assumption that everyone is interested in it.

Don't worry about the non-believers, they're just jealous because more people watch BBC4 at 3AM than they do these other fringe 'sports' like bat & ball (spot fixing cheats) and the egg-ball (feigning injury while chewing on a red capsule).

Maybe if they'd have been picked for the football reserves at school, they wouldn't be so bitter.
