However, thought I'm not a fan of his type of music, he is a very good song writer!

He probably was doing all those things until the royalty cheques dried up, hence the comeback in his 40s...

The very successful comeback tour was to help the other band members, not Gary Barlow.

Apparently he has a few sideline businesses, including writing and producing for other musicians/singers and a funeral business.

Not short of a bob or two, is Gary.

When he couldn't get arrested, never mind a record deal, in the late 90's and so on, he has admitted that he used to sit in his big mansion smoking dope and eating mars bars on a large scale.

To come back from that level of depression takes some doing, so although I find his music a load of sh't, he has earned my respect as a great human being for all of his charity work and so on.

Not a big fan of bowing and scraping....Sorry.

Ironically, your post has "inferiority complex" written all over it.

And "Father of the Year", apparently. Not sure what that means, but it seems appropriate to mention it given that it's Father's Day, and given that it was based on a public vote, it will no doubt please those looking for something more democratic than the honours system.
