true till we see it in the flesh, it will be difficult to make a call, but from my point of view..

1. the nose is heavy
2. the angle of the headlamps against the grill is not pleasing to the eye - ie - NOT NICE
3. front bumper corner shape more pleasing than i thought it would be, but with the DRL LED strips makes the car look like some one stretching out your smile.. in a bad way..
4. rear lights are refreshing
5. this looks more like a 2rd phase facelift than a new car compared to the current model.
6. the dash is the most pleasing aspect to this car, appears to have timeless appeal and sophisticated lines that will be good for the long term i think.
7. the door and front wing vents are pleasing to see, look more integral to the car than the past when it was a clipped on piece of plastic..

so i am impressed from the inside and not so for the exterior.. lets wait for clearer views etc,but my hunch tells me the headlamps are a mistake!

6.5/10 from me so far!

I love it. It's new, different and fresh. So in a world of cookie-cutter Audis the new SL gets my vote.

I feel that the front end design has a very powerful, masculine and perhaps even brutal essence to it...definitely not for wimps or cross-dressers.

Assuming you had the money, which car would you prefer to have: the new SL or new 911? It's a hard question to answer because both cars are brilliant. Both are iconic. Both are seductive in their appeal.

The SL gets my vote. When the AMG version comes out, the SLS is going to seem somewhat superfluous. Besides, the more I see the new SL, the more its looks grow on me. It is a triumph. What about everyone else? 911 or SL?

To be fair, "The Boss' makes some very valid observations.

I do tend to agree that the headlamp lenses squarish design on the inboard side does not blend or fair-in nicely with the nose cowling...somewhat awkward would be the appropriate description...
