Advice wanted - medium size car with Isofix
I'm trying to help a friend chose a 2nd car for his pregnant wife, which he'll also occasionally drive. The criteria are: <£4k <80k miles Diesel Mid-size car with 4/5 doors At least 3/4* EuroNCAP (therefore quite modern) Isofix He's into cars, so would like something other than the default choice of Ford Focus. So far all I can think of is: Alfa 147 Saab 9-3 Smart ForFour Has anyone driven the above diesel cars or can suggest any others? Is there a list of cars with Isofix as standard? Many thanks.

Hello
An Alfa at 4K just seems like problems....and the smarts don't 'look' very strong even though they probably are (as in the little smart on top gear). Saabs I like, and also VW's but your looking at a 100K miles on a TDi for that price. Dare I even mention the A170Cdi on a merc forum.... ?? my brother has one and they like it. 50mpg etc LWB also.

Forfour CDi is fab but rare to get isofix! red i on the CDi badge is the 95bhp silver is 68bhp. Small boot too, I found with the seats slid back it's smaller than my (old shape) fortwo!
A2 maybe?! you know about those though ![]() Kate |

MKIV Golf. A private buy might see a GT TDI for the price/miles. Ours had isofix.

Thanks for the tip on the ForFour boot size, I'd just assumed it would have been like all other small-medium sized cars. Are the diesels known for been relaible?

Forfours both petrol & diesel are very good. Our workshop manager has a 1.3 petrol on about 80,000! My cdi is on 50,000 no probs with either really! Petrol's throttle bodies seem to go but nothing re-curring on the cdi's yet!
