Cool Ices get your lovely ices here

I have just had the air con on my car serviced with new condenser, drier and regas. The guy came to my house and worked tirelessly.

Because it is an E320 cdi he had to remove the front bumper to get the condenser out. He pointed out where the air flow does not reach the condenser and the build-up of dead bugs and other debris does the damage. He replaced all parts with genuine MB parts and charged £270+Vat

Expensive you decide I am more than happy the car is so cold when the air con is on I'm thinking of selling ices from the centre console cold box

Are you sure they were genuine parts?

That is very good value.

MB parts come with a 2 year warranty. All MB parts do. If they fail within that 2 year period then take the car back to the MB main dealer the parts were bought from with a copy of the parts invoice and they will fix it FOC.

Have I been done then? it would seem that they are not genuine parts. I will call him and have a word. The air con works so well though, but I will find out about this.

Some aftermarket cobdensors are absolutly fine. We often use them as an alternative if the customer is on a budget.

We tend to stick with the EIS brand as they seem pretty good.

Les,
I would be interested to know who you used. Would you be able to send me a PM as I need a compressor and receiver drier for my W124 E36. MB parts seem to be ridiculous prices - £826 for a compressor

If we get some sun,I would like to stay cool

Chris

That a really good price my last W210 was almost £500 for a new condenser and regas, that was at an Indie as well not MB.

Is that as an exchange unit or a straight purchase ?

Can't compressors be rebuilt/refurbished for less than that ? Surely a matter of stripping down and fitting new seals or bearings ?

Apparently the clutch mechanism on the Air con compressor has failed and the bearings are noisy. That quote was a straight new MB part for the W124 (part no 0002300511)and fitting is on top of course. I was thinking of getting pattern parts and which cost less than 50% of the MB ones.
