refurbish or retrim leather seats W140

I am about to do a semi project with my S320 LWB 1998

My oldish S320 from 1998 are in pretty good shape for its age, but I want to upgrade it a bit.

The leather seats in my S-class are a bit tired and the driver seat have a small tear. So I have been thinking of getting it refurbished by an expert but recently I have also started to think about maybe just retrimming the entire armrest, front and back seats.

What do you guys think would be the cost for re-trimming?
any other pros and cons for re-trimming?

Have you tried giving it all a deep clean and condition with gliptone first?

If it was just the drivers seat and armrest I'd suggest finding a passenger seat in good nick and swapping the covers/pads onto your drivers seat. The armrest lid can easily be replaced with a new one.

Can't help with the decision whether to restore or retrim as I've never had either done, but an upholsterer will offer both services so get their opinion on how well they expect your current interior to come up and compare prices. d:class seem to be very well thought of, and furniture clinic offer both services as well.

I will probably do a leather refurbish, but was tempted to go full monty for a complete re-trim as it would look nice. As I am willing to pay a bit extra on my old car for it to look stunning

Cheapest and most 'bang for your buck' option would what Neilrr has suggested and that is to hunt out a mint/good beige interior from someone breaking a W140... I wouldnt imagine it costing the earth as there's not a big demand for them...

It will be OEM (something no retrimmer can replicate), original, and the finish will be better than aaything re-connolising can offer....

the drawback with finding a driver seat is that it will have a different coloration then the passenger/back seat. So therefor I will not try to change the interiors. Refurbish works pretty much, and can restore the leather seats to a good finish.

My thoughts about re-trimming the leather seats was because I am not looking for cheapest or 'bang for your buck' as I am willing to spend a bit to make the car look absolutely stunning. But there are some issues around how much I am willing to spend on this car.

If anyone ask me if its worth spending money on this car "Hell yeah!"

In that case, why consider only buying a driver seat?.... Buy a complete beige leather interior for your car minus the doorcards as the colour difference there will not be noticable...

Try having a word with D Class.

Not cheap, but you'll get an idea of what you're up against if you want to go down the restoration route.

thanks, have already been quoted £1400 from another company. Will definitely get in touch with D Class. Its almost the same amount as I paid for the car, but I never bought the car as an 'Investment' but rather a toy that I can play with and then I end up spending too much, but hey its fun

That's just nuts. You can find a pretty much perfect leather MB interior in the right colour for about £300 if you look around people breaking cars & MB breakers.
