e class cabrio colour choice

I have a mate who has decided on the e class cabrio. He really fancies the idea of ordering in white but is worried about how it will look on a daily basis on UK roads. He is now leaning towards black. Are there any particular issues ordering white in terms of image, resale etc?

Hello

Is seems white is the new silver on Mercs, they do look good (at least in the coupe form) There are also two whites a normal flat white and a pear white.

All I can say is that my brother who does a lot of miles reckons white cars are a pain in the neck at picking up and showing tar. Black cars however look great clean, but are a really pain to keep clean.

No so long ago no one really bought a Merc in White....its seen as a 'basic' colour however times have changed. Not sure how long this will last but assuming he has it 2 or 3 years doubt it will change radically that it sudenly becomes hard to move on.

i have a diamond white coupe - it gets cleaned once a week and looks great (well I think so anyway).

Popped out for a bite to eat earlier and as i was parking up, a white coupe convertible pulled up alongside, so yes, white does seem to be the new silver/black...

If going for white chose a good complimentary colour for the interior trim/ soft top [if possible??-- pref not black] its quite important to the overall "look" of the car

I have ordered a flat white in the Coupe. I have just had a Black car for the past three years and all I can say is never ever again. I have a wash contract with a local hand car wash. They took very good care of me as I even had my own bucket and wash mits just for my car.

Black is just as bad to keep clean. Swirls on the paintwork, water marks after the car wash, stone chips, morning dew etc were all big pains. Even when the car was clean it still looked sad.

With white paint wear is less visable, water marks not an issue and dust which is a killer on black will not bother either. It will also be much cooler. I do a lot of motorway miles and as much as I tried to avoid them after 20K miles I had my bonnet resprayed. It may have just been bad quality paint from Lexus.. With white the undercoats will contrast well with the white and chips will not be as visable.

On the down side I did mine on a PCP and the ballon payment was affected if I went for a white car. The market still seems to be scared of the last white craze which saw white cars being hard to resale in the used car trade.

Hope that helps....

A lot of manufacturers, including Mercedes are introducing brown metallics now.

White does look good on the right car, but I think it is the new silver...

I have had a black one, with black leather for 2 months, previously I had a black CLK convertible, with ----- leather!

I pondred more over the engine, but 350CDI was spot on.

SE verses Sport was another choice, but I afraid after suffering a CLK Sport for 3 years on our ---- roads I could not face anymore jarring.

I do like the look of the other colours, but I think they can be seasonal.

White is a PITA to keep clean, even after a good wash my car is covered in tiny specs that won't come off even with tar remover - going to clay the car next time I am cleaning it and hopefully that might get them off.

IMO brown/gold is the next big colour, most brands include a brown car in their press shots.

Thumbs up

I've seen both black and white cabrio side by side with red leather and the white one shaded it for me.
