The police do seem to have their priorities wrong. Chap who lives not far from me is having trouble with some teenage vandals who have got it in for him. Reported them several times with no police attendance, then this morning a pc turned up so he started to tell the pc the story, the pc said "I dont know anything about that, iv come because they've complained they think you're videoing them" !!!!! This country is ruined.

Love the over-reaction from a local resident ....

Local resident Tina McCarthy was woken up by the deafening bang at 2.30am

She said: 'A massive explosion woke me up and when I looked outside I could see a huge cloud of smoke coming from the camera.

'There had been thunder and lightning that evening but this was so much louder - at first I thought someone had shot at it.

'It's quite worrying to think that someone has these kind of explosive devices and can plant them so close to our homes.'

Then the police joined in ...

Hampshire Police's acting Chief Inspector Kelly Whiting said: 'This is totally irresponsible behaviour by whoever committed this offence.

'There was a risk to the nearby petrol station and the attack could have had serious consequences.'

Presumably none of the local residents are allowed bonfires then ...

The camera doesn't look properly blown up either , certainly not by a 'BOMB' ( note capitals , these types of explosives are much more dangerous than ones in lower case ) , looks more like someone has taped a big banger to it.

According to Tina though , you would think that Armageddon was here , god knows what she does on Bonfire night ?

I'm all for direct action against inanimate objects, as long as nobody gets hurt, and no individual is out of pocket. It happens all over the world to speed cameras, so I'm not surprised its happened here.

Your friend should have replied that he was perfectly within his rights 'videoing' anyone in a public place and could have quoted from any of the photographers' rights sites - such as
