Thanks for all the info chaps

Hello Derek. The Porsche was very nice but im a merc man at heart and have always lusted over the R129's

I went for a drive in a friends SL320 today. i have to say, i wasn't really impressed with the performance. I think my 2.6 190 feels quicker. But i put that down to the smoothness of the drive, so it would have to be a V8 model. Although, after that chipped up and tweaked 944 Turbo everything feels slow to be honest. LOL

Cheers,

Stu

Were they all 320's?

Where can you get a full spec on these?
There is a designo blue 500 for sale in Bury - its in the autotrader at £11k - I saw it in July but thought I wanted a 320

He had a 2002 SL500 and a 98 SL500 R129 ltd edition, I asked a few questions about it on here at the time.

He still has both - I have decided my SL320 isnt special enough to keep for the sunny days and after the CLS it feels very slow.

Sooo I now have the delicious scenario where im after a second car and whilst in a lucky position to be able to spend a lot I prefer not to cos its a second car and will be used on sunny or special days.

I started off wanting a Ferrari 355 then possibly a 360 but I think these will drop (360) quite quickly as the UK PLC falters further I then started seeing that SL500s circa 2003 were about £20k and SL55 not much more and as such Im trawling the ads, best i have seen so far is a 48k example in a MB dealer for £21k on an 53 plate (sl500) I would part chop the SL320 for ease of trade.

Pity cos the R129 is now perfect mechanically and needs a few scratches to be blown in for near mint ! (see gallery)
