Selling my car - Online valuations - advice appreciated

Been thinking of selling my car. So I obtained some online valuations.

Car is: C180K, 4dr, 2006, 58k miles, Obsidian Black, Automatic, two owners from new, full service history (part-franchised part-specialist), 3 months MOT, COMMAND, non-leather seats. Not import, never been in a crash, no outstanding finance, etc etc.

Results below:

evanshalshaw.com - 1,911
wewantanycar.com - 2,238
webuycarstoday.co.uk - 2,312
webuyanycar.com - 2,575
trustedcarbuyers.com - 2,670
sellyourjamjar.co.uk - valuation not received

Any further suggestions?

Thank you.

Very wide range on Autotrader between 2.5-4.9k

How do you intend to sell it and how quickly and hassle-free do you want the sale to be?

I usually trade-in, but on this occasion I am not buying another car just yet, so I thought I'd just sell it to the likes of webuyanycar.com, seems quick enough and reasonably hassle free.

Never used these on-line buyers but I've heard WBAC seldom pay what they quote.
On inspection, they knock off for every scratch and defect etc, so you might get much less than quoted.

Why not advertise it here?

Seeing that it's a low mileage and only a two owner car in perfect condition it has to be worth a shot on Auto Trader etc for a week or two. You could just as easily get a no hassle sale there and an extra grand in the pocket too.

This one reason why I prefer webuyanycar.com in spite of them not making the highest offer - they have a location very close to me so I am thinking if they give me hassle I just go away, no harm done.

Possibly, but I just don't have the time to accommodate potential buyers who want to see the car etc. And this is honest buyers... not to mention time wasters etc.

Cleared. But it's a lowly C180K.... not an AMG

As previously mentioned , they will knock off for any marks plus there is an "admin" fee to consider IIRC.

For a laugh i got a quote for my CLS around a month after buying it from the main dealer and WBAC were initially offering me around what i had just paid for it , do i think i would have got their offer - not a chance , it was only to get me through the door.

But as you say , why not give it a try.

Kenny

I suspect all the online offers are subject to condition and the offer on inspection would be less.
I would try WBAC and see what they say as you have no obligation to sell and with the other higher quotes you may have haggle ammunition.

WBAC quoted me a figure over the phone but when I took it there and waited the 40 minutes they did indeed knock off 1500 in total for all the tiny knocks and dents. I thanked them very much and advertised the car through auto trader - sold it a week later for 100 quid short of the asking price. I'm still getting emails from WBAC about the car 18 months later.

I sold a car to WBAC without any problems. You do have to fill out the online form accurately in respect of dings/marks because they WILL go over the exterior of the car very carefully. I think a lot of the problem is that people either aren't aware of small car park marks etc. or just don't notice them any more.

With my car they came back after the inspection and reported a crack in the plastic rear bumper. I pointed out that I'd declared it on the form, they checked and agreed, and I got the full online valuation amount (which was more than I was being offered as a main dealer part-ex ... this was a 1 owner 5 year old car, low mileage, full dealer service history).

I'm sure I could have got a bit more if sold privately but the time and hassle weren't worth it for me.
