I see a lot of Chrysler 300s with these. Personally, I think they look tacky on such an elegant car..

Wood steering wheel is great though. Mine came with it (matches the dash wood) and I love the look and feel!

They are listed on eBay, here ...

Mercedes Benz CLS W219 W211 R230 W209 Sport Steering Wheel | eBay
at £359, no airbag.

If you want to change the colour, you'll need a new airbag housing at about £220. Sure my local indie, AUTOTECHNIC at Loddon, Norfolk on 01508 522 995 (always happy to promote them) will do the replacement at a reasonable cost.

Just building my PayPal balance to cover purchase, will stick with black and use existing airbag, no big deal with a dark grey dashboard, the wood will really lift the look.

MB advised yesterday they'll fit one for £840 with a new airbag so could change from Black to dark Grey, not really worth it methinks.

Do you mean £359 off ebay or the £840 from MB?

Yes, even £359 is a lot, the cost of two tyres, but I'll pay it if I have to; after all I see the wheel whenever in the car, and it will enhance the appeal. Will continue looking for a cheaper one on eBay though, and any Merc breakers, Mercman in particular.

Definetly don't go for all that chrome horribleness around the windows. I've just vinyal wrapped mine in satin black which I personally think makes the car look less blingy/look at me.

I will not be adding chrome around the windows or on the pillar, nor would I go for vinyl wrap either though.
Will change the front grill at some point, I see that as an upgrade rather than a modification.

I think it will look quite nice. As long as the combo is not beige and wood.

I'm noticing the attention this car gets too. Last car I had that got this amount of looks was a 1970 Mustang from CCC!

Still prefer the 219 to the 218, despite seeing more of them around now. The shape just doesn't gel with me. I think the fusion of 212 lower body and 219 upper just doesn't work.... but that's only my opinion.

219 CLS is a great car, surely destined to be a classic one day.
Have had mine quite a while, bought it through MB Dealership via the web etc., no problems and first class treatment. I agree the 219 looks more rakish and svelt than the 218. I still regularly get highly complimentary comments about its looks, it is always a joy to see it waiting for me when I return to it. You cannot say that about the looks of too many cars today, that are the by products of wind tunnels and 'me too' design. It stands apart from the crowd looking drop dead gorgeous, yet actually looks discrete; that's some feat.
