Going to see a C320 CDI Sport 2007

I am going to see one of these in the next couple of days, it's low mileage and has heated leather, Comand, Xenons, 7G gearbox and few other extras.

Anything I should be looking out for? I know the 7G box is not to everyone's tastes but is there anything other than this one should check on these cars?

Not a lot fairly reliable model. Make sure you like the 7g and is not jerky etc. there is an issue with the inlet port shut off motor on the V6 but you'll know if that's gone as it'll be slow. The c320 is an adorable bundle if joy and they are great fun practical fast cars.

They are very solid cars... Engine light or lack of power could be the inlet port shutoff motor but apart from that, nothing really goes wrong.

Check when the last transmission service was done... They should ideally be done every 40K although Mercedes say only once at 40K and never again!

Thanks for the info guys.

Now in my search for a new steed I have stumbled upon an even higher spec (pano roof and harmon kardon) C280 Sport 2007, only done 24k and is cheaper than the C320CDI.

I dont drive much, maybe 5k miles per year so fuel costs dont worry me too much, question is which is the better car...?

Not seen this for sale, will have a dig around the forum

Found it: 2007 57 C320 CDI Sport 79k FMBSH. Black Leather (not MBTEX) Xenons, Phone.

This is the sort of car I am looking for but the mileage is too high for me. I'm looking around 40k miles.

They C280 has 7 bhp more (228) however the diesel has an extra 145 lb/ft of torque and is faster to 60 you decide.

As a low mileage user a petrol car would be my choice but to choose a 280 over a 320cdi wouldn't be my preference, take a v8 petrol out for a test drive

if the engines last to 250k and you do 5k a year

the 24k should see you right until March 2056
the 40k should see you right until December 2053
the 79k should see you right until February 2045

It's a tricky one.

But that's just engine. Body work, suspension interior will all be shot

I bought such a car earlier this year, 57 C320cdi, Comand and the rest.

My impression is that it has work its 65,000 miles extremely well, everything works as it should, and it belies its miles.

The 7g box is excellent, suspension is fine, its an elegance, not sport.

Performance is superb, overtaking is effortless MPG between 29 and 37 depending on conditions.
