Online deals for new Mercedes

Has anyone ordered their new Mercedes online? I have spotted some broker websites that do great deals, has anyone used one? Do you really get the discount shown?

Do you mean drive the deal or similar websites?

Huge discounts off the E class estates..

My dad was looking a while back and it was actually the local garage that would source the car.

Yes, it was drivethedeal.com that I was looking at. They have got an E Class Estate E220 CDi BlueEfficiency Sport Tip Auto for just £31,124 - that's £6,500 off list price. drivethedeal.com says I can pay the dealer for the car direct the day before delivery. Did your dad buy one? Was everything ok with the service?

Hello

No he didn't but he was happy with the way it works having spoke to the dealer, they (drive the deal) basically locate the garages that need the sales to meet targets and pass on this saving to the customer.

He has decided to wait until the CLS brake is out however he was close to buying a E350 CDi with a lot of options. Even the options work out cheaper

I'm sure someone on here must have bought one using it?

I have just spoken to drivethedeal.com. They have told me that if I order one, they will place my order with a dealer and that I pay my deposit to the dealer direct (drivethedeal collect my credit card number but the dealer takes the money). I can then speak with the dealer direct, so it's just like going into a dealer and ordering with them. I'll wait to see if anyone else posts a comment before taking the plunge.

I investigated a few of these deals before buying my new MB a few months ago. They all sounded like good offers and they weren't at all pushy. I chickened out of using any of them but instead took a couple of their quotes with me to my local dealer and used them as part of my negotiation. Although I didn't get quite as much off, I wasn't too far away. I decided the extra few hundred that I ended up paying was worth it for the peace of mind that I got.

Have just been checking prices on Coast2Coast and Carfile, and in fairness they are only about £1k less than dealer has quoted me, and he is including my trade-in as part of the deal....

Sorry....that wasn't very clear!! The difference of £1k obviously isnt to be sneezed at, but the trade in value the dealer has given me is about £1k more than the bids I have received elsewhere....so, for me, it makes sense!

I've done it! I ordered my new E220 online this morning....and the dealer just called me 10 mins ago to confirm the price and my order is going ahead. I have a bit of a wait, but my local dealer couldn't get one any quicker. And I am saving over £1500 on what my local dealer would go down to. The dealer will deliver my new car to me free and I am paying the money direct to the dealer. All looks good so far...

I've user brokers in the past without an problems.

As you have discovered, now you are dealing direct with the dealer just as if you had walked into their showroom. The broker has just done all the leg room for you (and earned £300 for their work)

I've used drivethedeal before with no problems, but I recently ordered a new Ford Ranger using Autoebid.com (reverse auction website where you specify the car and spec you want, dealers then under-bid each other). Delays in production put back the delivery date to Feb/March next year so I had to cancel. The dealer refunded my deposit but I lost the Autoebid fee of around £360.

I wouldn't use Autoebid again for that reason. With drivethedeal the dealer pays the broker fee so you can't loose out.

A bit late for the OP on this subject, but for info, I used Drivethedeal earlier this year for a VW Golf for darling wife. Excellent service, very good contact with the VW dealer and felt well looked after, even being a distance customer. Also sold our old car via WBAC.com for £800 more than the local VW dealer was offering, so even if we'd got a local dealer to get close or match the broker price I'd still have been worse off.
