Should I re-map my CLK 2.7 CDI, what are the drawbacks ???

I am considering having my 2004 CLK 2.7 CDI with 92 k miles on the clock re-maped.
Can any of you experts advise me what are the extra wear or problems I might expect due to the increase in bhp as these mercedes engines arn`t cheap to repair and don`t wish to harm the engine and the gearbox and running gear for that matter.

Thanks, Reggie.

I have a w211 '05 2.7CDI. I got it remapped and it is awesome now. The remapper will have done a safe map most likely. The autobox can handle it fine.

What is the best way to do this, get the ecu re-mapped on a laptop or buy a tunning chip that plugs into the engine that seems the cheaper option, after looking on ebay and if so which one is the best ?
