Ok so in the absence of any other way of turning off the alarm you will have to find a fuse, unless it has its own fuse then or it might share a fuse with something else, that’s my fuse layout below but I don’t know which one has the alarm on it… that is if it has a fuse at all.

Your fuse chart looks the same as mine,fuse no 23 would seem to be the one.

On mine i also have two fuses local to the Alarm control Module, they are inline with the cabling and were installed when the alarm was installed, though your alarm system sounds like it is a variation on mine, a lot of them shared a similar parts, the control unit is in the passenger footwell, bolted to the steel plate that is mounted to the forward firewall.

The 918 fitting manual linked below is the one on my car. Page 1 in the link states there is a power supply via a Pink wire at the fuse box, 15a fuse…
Fitting instructions … http://www.boopolo.com/alarms/918fitting.pdf User manual… http://www.boopolo.com/alarms/918user.pdf I think what Andy is talking about in the passenger foot well is the Mercedes factory fitted immobeliser, the Scorpion alarm control united is located elsewhere on the car, possibly behind the panel above the drivers knees but I’m not sure exactly where it is. I see also that the alarm doesn’t consume anywhere near as much power as I previously said it did. It would be better to try and kill this alarm via its fuse rather than anywhere else. If it is the alarm control unit, and I don’t know for sure, it is about 6 inches by 4 inches by 2 inches thick with a hell of a lot of wires plugged into it. It’s located very close to the bonnet release lever high up behind the said panel.
It would be better to go after the fuse instead as a means of killing the alarm control box. If you take the lid of the fuse box there will be about 8 screws to remove in order to gain access to the underside of the fuse board, you will then be looking for a Pink? wire (this is the wire I was talking about in the first link above) that has been spliced/connected to one of the existing live wires when the alarm was fitted. This is the wire that would power the alarm control box. If you can find that wire, cutting it should kill the power to the alarm control unit, cut it in such a way so as you can rejoin it again in case you got the wrong wire. Pulling out a fuse is probably not going to do it as this will also knock out something else like the dome light. Dec |

Thanks yet again mate. What i intend to do is find the control box,& its pink wire, & if it looks as if its heading to the fuse box, then i'll cut it (under the knee panel).
Not sure when i'll have time to do it, prob weekend. |

There is an advantage in doing this at the fuse box rather than at the knee panel in that it will be obvious that this Pink wire (if that is its colour) has been added to the existing wiring in that it has been spliced/taped in place.
Also I’m not absolutely sure that I am correct in saying that that the control box is behind the knee panel. Dec |

My alarm control unit is definetly mounted in the passenger footwell and has a "Q" Pt. No. on it, this was confirmed to me by Mercman when they were in Southampton.
The problem with these alarms, it all depended on who fitted them, as I have heard some control units were fitted and cable tied up by the steering column, though the fitter had strict work instructions from MB and the methods and location for installation if it could be done easier it normally was.

Engine cutting out?
Hi everyone, new to this forum, I've recently bought a Mercedes C220 1994 for my wife after having a Mercedes company car and loving it so much.
Since buying it it has developed an intermittent fault. Evey once in a while while driving the car will completely cut out, all lights come up on the dash and I have to put the hazards on and coast to the side of the road, wait 60 seconds for the immobiliser to reset and start up again. It then drives off fine until the next time it happens. I've just had a full service and changed the crank position sensor but it still happened yesterday, at the end of the dual carraigeway! I was wondering if I could disable the immobiliser just to get started quickly and/or to eliminate that from what is going wrong? Is also normal for the indicator lights to all flash a couple of times just after pulling away? My fusebox is under the bonnet passenger side at the top of the engine and I have a Mercedes key fob/flip out key, with 4 buttons. Any help would be greatly appreciated, next stop the garage! |
