Wondering if anyone can help me, Im having problems and it is just typical as my MOT is due in 3 weeks I have a C240 Estate, and have had trouble free motoring for the past two years other than my windscreen wiper. In the last couple of weeks with the adverse weather conditions I found that when i went to start my car it just clicked once ... I thought ut oh alternator, starter motor, or a sticking solanoid, the battery seemed to have a full charge the lights , radio horn headlamps all were working but then the next day they wasnt ... on recharging the battery the car started fine and is driving well However....... Now i find the windows wont open, and the central locking wont work and also the mirrors wont adjust, all the lights work, the radio, the wipers, are all ok ...... its just a few things that have now failed I know the MOT will fail if the windows wont go up or down or the mirrors wont adjust...... is this a problem that emerged from the battery being dead? or could it be a fuse, or has the computer system been knocked out? Any help would be appreciated Help me and Ill love you forever Skye

I'm having similar issues with a W124 E220. I currently have no wipers, screen wash, heated rear window, sunroof or main beam flash (though permanent main beam works!).
Information received on here suggests it will be no more than a fuse or a relay, neither of which are expensive to buy or fit. I suspect you'll be in the same boat but there are many on here far more knowledgeable and experienced than I who will point you in the right direction if I'm wide of the mark. Good luck and don't worry.

Hi,
What year is your Class? is it a W202 or a W203? It sounds like you a faulty control unit, possibly the SAM unit, I think you will need to get this diagnosed by a good Indy equipped with STAR diagnostic software. The car won,t fail the MOT with the mirrors not working and i don,t think it would fail because of the windows either, as my windows have never ever been checked on any car that i have ever owned.

If you can get to Kirkham (nr Blackpool) go see Ian Walker at 124Works who is not only good at what he does and has a Star machine but is also a sucker for a pretty face!
His number is 01772 681210HTH

It sounds like the relay that powers all these devices is losing power for some reason. Exactly the same thing happened to my C280 estate once, but it fixed itself once it was restarted. Do let us know when you get it fixed what the problem was.

Check fuse 23 and fuse 27-- both 15amp in the main fuse/relay box--the box is beside the brake servo and the fuses are listed inside the lid of the box. If this is gibberish get a knowledgeable friend to check these for you or go to one of the specialists already mentioned.
