CLS (diesel 2006) battery issues

Hi Any advice appreciated
I have had a recurring 'battery protection circuit activated' fault over the cold snap, clears after first couple of miles, been into main dealer (extremely helpful) had the car for a few days, replaced/reprogrammed battery control unit, battery seemed good - but still happening, back to dealer (very helpful again) couldn't find any drain but although battery test ok suggest battery may be on the way out (4yrs old), suggest replace at 180+vat, can get Bosch from Halfords for 100. Can anyone offer any advice, are the Bosch Silver batteries any good? I can just about justify trying at 100 but not over 200 and might not sort the issue
Many thanks

We have a Bosch Silver in my Dad's S-class and it has been very good, if my memory serves me correctly the warranty on the MB battery is 1 year and the Bosch is either 3 or 5 years.

I took the gamble and bought the Halfords branded battery. Same ratings as the Bosh and with 3 year warranty. As it was a Halfords own brand the assistant knocked it down from £100 to £75.

Is that Finland, Ontario, Canada? For Helsinki, Finland it looks cold but not exactly that:
AccuWeather.com - Finland | Helsinki Weather

We've discussed this before and found the above advice to look at the SBC battery very important too. If an extremely helpful workshop cannot do it, just change it yourself, it is cheap as CLS states.

Try MB.

I replaced the 100A battery in my E320 CDI this week.

Costco = Bosch Silver was £92
MB Colindale = Mercedes genuine 100A was £84 with VAT !

Seems they are doing a promotion on batteries at Colindale and the original £129 price had been discounted.

Date stamp on the battery showed it was just 2 weeks old.
