Unhappy ESP/ABS problem

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my 02 c class coupe. I have faults displaying on the computer saying that ABS and ESP are not available, cruise control is not working and the ABS light is on.

For a while prior to this happening the wheel seemed to be pulling to one side (following a blowout), i've had the car lazer allinged since but it is still pulling slightly to one side. Also I've recently had 3 new tyres fitted.

Does anyone have any idea as to weather the new tyres/alingment issue could have caused the esp fault? Or any other idea as to what the problem could be?

Please help.

Many thanks,

Damian

Search for brake light switch for the ebs/esp problem, £10 from mercs

Search for wheels in motion for the pulling problem, £140 ish with new bolts.

As Lynall says for esp/abs fault on display, having a simular problem at the moment on my w208 clk320 cab & after doing a search on here seems it could also be a faulty wheel speed sensor, best to have the fault codes read on star which is what i will do next, good luck

My money would be on a wheel speed sensor as well, especially after a blowout and the associated work following it.

Has the abs and esp lights come on since the tyres were fitted as it may have had the wrong size tyres fitted.

The easiest way would be to get it stuck on a star machine and get the fault codes read

A toothed ring that the abs/speed sensor uses to work out wheel speed and deceleration rates.
They do fill up with road crap and may just need a clean.
Still worth brake light switch as its fixed a couple of our previous mercs with same lights up.

dont waste time and try to diagnose your abs. its really waste of time to try to fix it without having known the real cause. ask someone that have a MB tester to help you

Yes but the switch is only £10 and is surely worth a try as its the first thing anyone will look at, imagine how peeved you would be getting someone to fix it and receiving a bill for £100 when you could have fixed it for £10, of course if you cant afford the £10 you cant afford to run any car.

As cipijoint says i would get it put on a star machine as it can be a number of things that can cause the lights to come on.

Do you have a good independant in your area that could have a look at it

Thanks guys. Been putting this off a while as I've not used the car for a bit(lost my job and tax & mot expired! Started new job now!). Ordered the brake light switch today, as it cost 9 quid and seems worth a try, I'll keep you updated!

Get it plugged in first. It WILL save you money in the long run. No point in bolting parts on randomly unless you know what the cause is.
