Adjusting headlights on a '96 R129 SL from RHD to LHD
I don't have the xenon lights, just regular halogen bulbs, and have had a quick look and can't see anything that looks adjustable on the rear of the units. Have checked the handbook and it recommends using stickers. I really don't fancy those black sticker things on the lights so can anyone please tell me if there is another quick and easy solution? I do have the "headlamp beam control" dial on the dash. Could I just set this to number 2 (i.e. maximum load, number 3 isn't used apparently) and get away with that do you think? |

In fact when I went to a VW main dealer to buy approx. £50 worth of bits to convert the lights on my Sharan (special masks that required a full headlamp covers - no markings on the headlights themselves), that's exactly what they recommended I did instead! Of course it's not ideal, but you won't dazzle anyone that way. Supposedly the French police are quite strict ... have to say we are only passing through each time though (en route to Germany). |

Nice quick reply, thank you.
I was thinking of trying that and seeing what happens, we are only planning on being there two nights and have no plans to be driving around during the hours of darkness. Summer late nights are long enough to get to the restaurant, after which drink will be consumed so no more driving! |
