What benefit would I get, if any by updating my Command?

Hi all
I’ve a 209 CLK55 AMG registered in July 2003. I like Command. I particularly like the speed it updates ones position and the duel aspect of the navigation with the map in the centre console and the directions/instruction in the speedometer.

What benefit would I get, if any by updating my Command to the latest version? Does is do full post code? Would I forgo having to put country specific CDs in? Has anyone here updated to the latest version?

Advice appreciated.

Pete

Hi John - I thought of that but wanted to hear from the wider community first to see if anyone has updated - and to what benefit

It is not a trivial task to change the comand unit itself. As your car is a pre facelifted W209 the system is D2B based. the newer DVd comand units are MOST based so there would be a lot of rewiring plus a number of trim changes needed.

You could simply use a newer map disk but this will not give you any more features except possibly TMC and 5 digit postcode input but you may well have that already. The newer disks do have vastly improved road detail though.
