C32 heating problem

Hi all..

It's been a while but I finally changed my C43 to a C32 about 1 1/2 ago. The 32 is great, fast and just a pure joy to drive.

I have 2 problems. One is pretty standard for the W203 chassis and it's the loud ticking noise behind the dashboard. Does anyone know who can fix this cheaply in London? I've heard that the parts only cost £30 and can take 2 hours to fit. Mercs want £1000 or so for the pleasure.

2. My air con controller has died. The thing just does not work anymore... can it be fixed or does anyone know where/if I can get a reconditioned unit. A brand new unit is £ 225 +VAT. Can it be replaced by the newer style W203 type.

3. If I wanted to uprate the C32 what can be done. Does anyone do a chip upgrade like AMD do for audi/vw?

thanks

J

Sounds like it could be the stepper motor - if so a dash-out job I believe?

Could it be linked to ticking I wonder?

Lots!!

In the UK:

www.kleemann.dk - expensive, MB specific
www.dmsautomotive.com - expensive, all marques

In the US (mail order to UK):

www.code3performance.com - cheap, lots of parts
www.letmotorsports.com - cheap, remap but may require posting ECU
www.vrptuning.com - cheap, all sorts

thanks a lot. I'll probably order the controller today. I got the old one out with no problem. I spoke to a merc repairer and they said the stepper motor fault is a few hours work and a few hundred pounds...better than the main dealers £grand.

I'll see what can be done to the 32 but I really fancy an E55 (2005/6) but I don't know anything about them.
