How to wire flashing LED's
Need some advice on wiring flashing leds on my new work wagon. The Volvo unfortunately has a very poor visual deterent that it is alarmed just a puny led in the dash. My previous subaru had a dash mount led that reflected of the winscreen and the same in the rear panel reflecting off the rear screen. There are loads of LEDs out there and a lot of them state there is no need to connect them to an alarm system you can wire them so they illuminate when the ignition goes off. My question is how? Presumably one of the wires is connected to a live that goes to ground when the ignition is off? Could anyone suggest where I could tap into the wiring front and rear in order to wire an LED this way? Thanks

Assuming your diode has the current limiting resistor built in (i.e. you can connect it sraight across 12v
Connect the anode to a permanent 12v supply, and the cathode to an ignition or accessory supply. That way current will flow through the LED with ignition off, and no current will flow with ignition on. |

Another way would be to use the power supply to the existing LED as that will be alarm powered Remember to fit current limiting resistors to stop the LED burning out. |
