European driving with early Xenons?

Contrasting info so far it seems.

A friend has a 2001 prefacelift s600, it has factory Xenons. We are trying to establish whether there is the "lever" to switch then for European use. Dealer, EPC and various forums all conflicting!!!

Anyone know? Cheers people

No lever, you need the stickers.

Think the lever was on the Bi Zenons only, at least it is on mine i know this because i retrofitted them on my S 320 year 2000, one headlamp from Germany other headlamp from UK, both had the European left hand drive right hand drive lever fitted, Two minute job to change over.

My 2001 has zenons and i posted similiar quaestion and got loads of conflicting advice and spent ages looking for the magic lever.

I never found it and have been abroad several times since with no bother also spent a while looking at peoples faces coming the other way to see if i was dazzling them and no i wasnt.

Apparently the stickers dont work on xenon headlamps, read the instructions on the packets.

Maybe just manually lower the right headlamp.

Ps price of petrol in europe is anywhere between euro 1.20 and 1.30 per litre approx 50 pence a litre more expensive than here, great news for yor S600 owning mate

As usual motorways services are the most expensive.

Made sure i filled up in Dover before i left and i have never done that before

As I said - there is no lever on a 2001 s-class and that is what MB would happily be able to tell you when you ask.

The stickers work perfectly fine on these xenon lights and it's appalling to suggest to the OP he should not bother with them. You will blind people and sooner or later you'll end up with a well deserved fine for it. The instructions on the stickers as you buy them from for example Halfords do cover W220 s-class, with separate fitting instructions for the traditional versus the clear glass versions.

Do we really need to exaggerate things so much? There are plenty of websites providing continental prices, such as the AA. For January, the difference between the average price in the Euro zone and the UK was 12 Eurocent.

I drive a lot in Europe and prices obviously fluctuate, but even on a trip of hundreds of miles, the difference in bottom line fuel cost totals to hardly more than a few lattes...
