Parking brake & MOT
Due for a ITV test this month (spanish MOT). They use mobile units here which are extemely "aggressive" and although the guys may be competent they do seem to have a somewhat cavlier attitude to the job. Here you sign a disclaimer before the test is started and you are the driver and you must remain in the car for the whole test proceedure as the "assistant". Have noticed in the manual that when testing the parking brake on a dyno (or similar) that the engine should be turned off or the brake system can be damaged. Is it just as acceptable to switch off the esp function? No mention of the normal independant brake tests for front and rear foot brake and was wondering if this is also required (engine off) Any advice would be welcomed regarding what appears to me to be a strange statement - just problems with the parking brake - maybe if its just a case of one wheel braking more that the other then the fronts will react in sympathy. So does a switch off the sytem do the same job? I bow to geater knowledge and will welcome any explanation and advice. |
