Audio 10 CD player, Can any CD player replace it?

Hello

Wifes Audio 10 CD player is playing up, the CD's keep skiping or not reading (probably due to the audio books she continues to play)

Anyway I was going to replace this with say a Sony or Kenwood maybe one with an iPod connector.

Can I simply remove the audio 10 and install a new one?

Would I need a harness for the back to connect to the Mercedes loom?

Thanks

The connections are standard ISO connectors, so as long as the stereo you're fitting has the same connections, not a problem. Even if they are different, autoleads do harnesses for virtually any stereo to save you cutting into the loom.

Not overly familiar with the A-class, but does it have steering wheel controls for the stereo etc? If so, it might limit your choices for an aftermarket unit if you wish to retain this functionality.

You could always look on eBay etc for a replacement unit, or maybe contact Alfie on here ( www.comandonline.co.uk ), he might be able to help you find a replacement unit or perhaps even know someone who could repair your current one

I would've thought so

As well as the brands you mention, consider a Becker with iPod interface for the superb quality and undesrtated OEM-look

You can fit a normal stereo though you will need to fit the stereo's cage. We did the reverse with my Dad's A-class. We took out the Sony that was fitted and replaced it with a Mercedes Audio 30 APS unit.

It was very straight forward, just plug and play.

I agree price wise Head units seem to have come right down. Not so long ago

£500 - £750 was the going rate for a unit that wouldn't do half that now of a £200 unit...

Guess with iPods and MP3's etc less call for high end units?

The CLK I'm picking up next week has an Audio 10 fitted which I will let you have provided Ian Walker doesn't mind as he has first shout on it.

I'm fitting my Blaupunkt to my new car so I won't need it.

I fitted an Alpine 9812RB to mine, no problem at all. Also had all the speakers replaced with alpine components and filled the boot with sub...

Hi Gareth,

If Ian Walker or A210 doesn't want the Audio 10, could I please ask if I may put myself in line for it?

Happily pay you for it too, my friend has a CLK with an Audio 10 tape unit and he was looking to change it for an Audio 10 CD as his tape unit is a bit temperamental.

Best of luck with the new car and if the Audio 10 does come out and Ian/A210 doesn't want it please let me know

Cheers,

Will

I've been thinking about changing my Audio 10, but will the 6CD changer be compatable with many after market HUs?

Thanks
