New Command system for W211 with 40GB HDD
http://cgi.ebay.ie/Mercedes-Benz-W211-CLS-command-NEW-MODEL-BD0880-HDD_W0QQitemZ310100608221QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Car sParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item310100608221& _trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65 %3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 It's basically a command unit with a HDD. the reason i'm interested is that if i want to upgrade my current CD-20 system with CD changer on my 2003 w211, I presumably won't have to install wiring looms into the boot as the HDD drive on this updated unit should hold all the data. Maybe i'm missing something but this would seem to be the most logical upgrade path for me? Also would I be able to get this part from a more reputable source as I've no intention of using this ebay seller?

Actually, I've found loads of info about it here.
Just need to find a cheaper option. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...-2009-a-2.html |

Be careful here as these MY2009 units dont necessarily work in pre MY2009 cars.
There are some concerns that even if they do they wont support existing devices. I am getting a MY2009 A class unit in soon (next week) and will have a better idea of this then. I plan to see if it works with my phone pre-wire, Cd changer and Linguatronic etc. Hope to add TV to the A class soon aswell

It seems there are two options a) cars with Audio20CD and b) cars with Audio50/Comand For both cases there are conversion harnesses out by Kabeldavico a) http://www.kabeldaviko.de/r171-w211-adapterset_ntg.html b) http://www.kabeldaviko.de/w211-219_comm-2-5.html Frank David Kozlowfski is a very helpfull guy . Now a) if you have a CD changer you should forget about it as after fitting the new NTG2.5 not even the door opens !!!. b) Also if you have an HK AGW you need to throw this one away as you need a new part compatible with NTG2.5, c) Telephone also should have to go away as the new unit has Bluetooth. (a bad thing as with factory pre-installation you charge your phone as well and most important keeping the mobile radiaton out of the car) Actually I got NTG1 retrofited in my 2007 W211, with CDC + TV Tuner etc (my car originally came with Audio20 and Telephone ). Now I just got a new NTG2,5 (BD0880) unit for Euro 1300 and I am planning to retrofit it with the next couple of weeks, and it seems I will have to throw away a lot of stuff. I hope I have been of some help Regards George |
