How does the wing mirror glass come off???

Hi all

Quick question...

How do I remove the mirror glass from the wing mirrors on my W220??

Tried but cant seem to get it to pull off, don't want to force it for fear of damaging something. Trying to fix a fault with the heated mirrors, they don't get warm!

Cheers

wing mirrors

Funnily enough i did my drivers mirror yesterday, quite simple really, adj the mirror so it looks up as far as it will go, using a torch look under the mirror glass towards the back of the mirror housing near where it folds, you will see a silver metal clip, lift the bottom of this clip up with a flat screwdriver and the outer casing will slide off, with the casing removed look at the rear top of the mirror glass, there is a straight wire clip which hooks over the adj unit and the glass, push that towards the rear of the car and lift upwards, then gently pull the glass towards you, it is held by a sticky pad also so be carefull, the heating is by two spade terminals near the inside edge of the glass, one of mine had come off so i just refitted it then put it all back together in reverse order. hope this helps?

yes worked fine, forgot to say there is also an extra plug on the drivers side mirror glass for the auto dimming, it is rectangular with 4 wires in it you do not have to unplug this unless you completely remove the glass

Hi Mate

When you took the mirror cover off, did you need to unplug the indicator repeater as well?

That is on a slide fitting, when the outer cover comes off the plug unplugs itself, fool proof.

Great thanks for the info....

So far I cant fathom why I am not getting any voltage across the two wires that connect to the heater... This sounds like it may make things easier to diagnose!

Cheers mate
