Which wire is the reverse?
I am fitting aftermarket parking sensors to my W163. Bumper is off and looking at the wiring, I have 2 wires to connects One to the (and I quote) "anode wire of the reversing light" and one to the "earth wire". This is what I have at the loom for the rear drivers side light cluster. ![]() Any help gratefully appreciated. Thanks Matt |

Have you got a test light or voltage meter?

Hard to tell looking at the pics but if that middle wire in the plug is brown then that will be your earth wire. You won`t do any damage trying the wires but my first guess without a metre would be the grey as most of the others look to be used for your towbar.

Yes I have both, but the test light is 240 v, so does not seem to light up at all.
How can i test with the voltmeter where do i put the two pins? Thanks in advance? |

OK sorted I think, tested with the voltmeter
One prong on the brown, and the other one moving around, but getting 12 v at the lights, 12 v at the brake light when on, and so can confirm that getting 12 v on the grey wire when in reverse. Thanks Bigbob very much. So thanks yes Grey wire is reversing light. Last edited by gbjeppm; 15-11-2008 at 08:59 PM. |
