Fitting a pirahna alarm...
Is it something I could have a crack at myself - or best left to the pros and does it have to be a specialist merc alarm? I'm OK with wiring but not great by the way...

It's coming off an L Reg Nissan Sunny with central locking. It was fitted to that car as an aftermarket fit though so didn't come with the car.

You will need a full wiring diagram for the alarm and easier with a new loom if you can get hold of one.. It can be done but the central locking system will be different(there are about 6 different ways of C/L on different cars all wired different!!) Like i said, can be done put probably easier to start from scratch with a new alarm.

Thanks for that Bob, if I start from scratch, do you know of any alarms/remote locking systems that are reccommended for the CE300?
Thanks |

I use Microscan AN400 series alarms and the Toad Ai606 for a Cat1, both have been reliable. Been fitting them for 10 years and can probably count the number of faulty ones on one hand!

the link in post 2 is good and helped me fit my new remote locking fobs to my W124. Just splice into the central locking pump which is under the rear seat squab, drivers side.
Your alarm probably will need to have the option to use with a vacuum system though - mine did (you could swtch between vacuum and electric) and it means it gives the pump time to work i think. |

We have always used autowatch alarms... ive had them on some of my cars for over 10 years now with no issue..
They are simple and effective..
