Suspicious!!!

This afternoon I collected my car from the MB aproved bodyshop that has been repairing my keyed bodywork
Apart from the absolute hash they've made of the repair (I'll probably moan about this in the origional 'car been keyed' thread) I have another issue...

When I took the car in, the petrol warning light came on just before I arrived at the garage. When I drove off from the garage today, the needle barley moved and was well below the coloured section. I know for a fact that when the warning light comes on there is still a reasonable amount of petrol in the tank!!
I can't help but think someone has taken the coupe for a bit of a run!

So, To my question....

The dash computer tells you current length and av speed of journey.
But, is it possible to call up recent journey details from the menu??

Don't think so
Have they been foolish enough to record the mileage on your invoice (assuming you hadn't)

Don't think you can do that, other than the from start readings, but with all your mods, I would have taken it for a run too!

Not recieved invoice yet as I've insisted they have it back at the end of the week to sort out the mess they've made of the job.

I was told a little while ago that they take the cap off if the car goes in the oven. Could this be it?

I realise this is a bit 'after the horse has bolted' but whenever I leave a car at a garage or at airport parking I always take a quick picture of the odometer with my phone camera and check it on return/pick up. Never had cause to pull anyone up about excessive mileage yet. Touch wood.

edit: If the are taking it for a run, diagnostics etc, then the should tell you how far they take it. The last place I went did, no surprises then.

The car will have been shunted around quite a bit at the repairers. This always seems to use a surprising amount of fuel.

Unless you have any proof then I fear this is going to be best put down to experience. Was there any road dirt on the newly painted area?

You are gettiing them to respray the badly repaired area so at least you are getting some form of revenge even though the return visit is down to their shoddy workmanship.

Its possible they may take the car to go for lunch? Here in Sweden you often see clients car with mechanic in. Driving for lunch.

Its not good that they do this. My friend left his car for bodywork on BMW it was there a week. When he collected the car frome the dealer. It had gone 6000km more than he had before on the mileage. Tahts not funny at all. He claimed for free service and cash frome theme for this idiot thing.
