Central locking not working

Hi guys,
have just bought an SLK R170 and retro fitted parking sensors however, the cental locking isn't working now. Not sure if it was working when I bought it to be quite honest and the parking sensors maybe a red herring. i've tried syncronising as per handbook and battery Fobs are ok.

The doors unlock with the interior door locking switch and manually with keys. Any ideas / help most welcome.

Is it the single button or 2 button key?
