Help me please with Comand installation!!!

Hello folks.

I had an Audio 20 original in my C-Class frome -2006. Then i baught an APS 50 on the Ebay. And retrofitted that one just with plug´n´play. It worked frome the vey beggining.

Now to my problem. I just baught an Comand aps the one with the big screen. When i was plugging this one in the only thing that happens is tahat the mercedes star comes on the screen. Then it turns of. I know some people hav problems with this and i may need to get a software or something to tell the car that it now has the comand. But the strange thing is that it worked without any problem with the APS 50?! Maybe the APS 50 is such an low tech version so it dosent need any programming to the car?

Please help me.

Your comand unit turns off because it cannot see anything on the fibre MOST bus. The APS 50 probably wasnt looking for anything on the bus so it worked straight away. Your comand unit has come from a car that had other components on the MOST bus.

To fix the problem properly you need to get the comand unit coded properly.

Where are you based?

They need to code the MOST ring so that it has AGW then Comand on it as your car does not have Harman Kardon, CD changer or phone pre-wire. If it did have any of these, you would have fibre and your comand would not turn off.

They also need to enable NAVIGATION = PRESENT in the instrument cluster. This will give you the directions etc in the cluster.

Did the STAR diagnosis at the dealer report an open circuit on the antenna?

It is almost certainly just the antenna you are using. Is it an original Mercedes one? If not, use an original. There are lots of dodgy/bad non original ones around.

Can you explain how it got fixed. I understand you bought a new GPS antenna as you seem to be selling the old one.

Is the AUDIO 50 APS GPS antenna not compatible with the COMAND? If not, why?

Hello!

No no i dident got any new antenna! It works great with the old one i had for APS 50. It was just star diagnos that says open circiut on the gps antenna somwhere. But as i have understand you should not trust these diagnos programs always. It works great now.

Firts i mounted the Comand. When i had mounted it. The only thing that happend when i pushed on button was that the mercedes logo came on the display. Then after 10 sec it turned off. So i called every mercedes worshop here in Gothenburg Sweden if they could help me. I got lucky and one shop could help me fast. They programmed the AGW etc. Then it worked perfect. But they said that star diagnos says open circuit on the gps antenna. But it works great. I baught a DVD map and was out driving 2 hours. The comand shows the way every time .

I hope my english is understandable?!

So if someone wants to buy APS 50 and 2007/2008 Navi CD:S Version 9.0 all 5 and a new Gps antenna. just give me an PM or e-Mail: jesper_sobeus@hotmail.com

400Gbp paypal + fees for the hole package its all in like new condition. It fits W203=C-Class frome 04/04

I always thought (obviously not an expert...) that the small screen version was for the pre-facelift w203. I might try this retrofit, but next year, as it is not a high priority for me.
