COMAND - DVD unit - Part no Question

There is a unit on ebay (funny enough!)
Part number : A 209 820 72 89

I have a new W209

seems a decent price, and 100% feedback.
Usual ebay issues apart - what is the downside of installing this old part number unit - according to mercupgrades this has been superceded?

presume I can still get the TMC, ETA etc according to software updates and DVD version etc?

confused of Appleton!

No downside really. Mercedes change the part numbers regularly for various reasons. That particular part number is a fairly new one.

Yep you can still get TMC and ETA.

Installation is easy if you dont mind taking your centre dash apart. Coding needs to be done by a dealer or a specialist.

Thanks,

I have a thread going in interiors trying to figure how to get the top control panel off - the buttons above the audio 20 - mercupgrades how-to says pop it out from behind from the edge by the coin tray - but the ali looks like it will give up or I'll break something expensive.

It will come off. It pulls off but it is very hard to pull at.

Yup its very tight to pull off. You really need the special merc tools which are simply strong hooks which slot behind the upper edge of the panel. The panel is held by metal spring clips.
