Problem with installing a screen in my W124
Pictures below will explain a bit better. ![]() ![]() ![]() The screen comes out but not far enough before it flips out and hits the wood panel behind. Ideally, the unit needs to be pulled out a bit further and this problem wouldnt occur. Does anyone have a solution to this or have anyone done anything to remedy a similiar problem? Cheers

This is something I thought about when looking at these systems.. I decided its definately not possible to have something like this in the R107 and im going to try one in the SEC..
Basically I cant think of anything that would make it work. Some units will come out horizontally first before they flip up... these may work but i suggest you try one before buying!

Is that an Alpine unit?
As my 1003r Alpine you can adjust that distance. With the screen open press and hold the button that brings the screen out after a few seconds the unit should send the screen out a bit further at the bottom. Close the screen and open it again it should now open further everytime. Hope it works ok for you |

you may need to engineer a spacer that brings the radio further out, it shouldn't be too hard to make it look as though it belongs in there.
I was looking at a flip screen sat nav the other week and decided that the problem you have discovered was going to arise so I didn't buy it |

I think the elegant solution is a taxi console and a Double-Din HU with screen

The only screen I know of that will work is a Kenwood. The flip the opposite way.

I had the screen installed in my old car so just thought id put it in as i had it lying around and its better than the old tape-deck sony that was in there! If anything i will have to pull it out a little and find a way of securing and making it look OEM. Cheers for all the advice so far everyone. |

tilt won't work (or at least not without some major surgery). The radio "sleeve" is an integral moulding of the console, above it is all the air con/heater controls etc
Adjusting the screen for a longer reach sounds promising though Andy |
