W210 BlinkingFolding Mirrors

Hi,
I have been looking for a good few months now for a pair of w210 facelift folding, blinking, dimming mirrors. I finally got a pair friday from Mercman in Southampton minus the O/S mirror.
Knowing that there are a few forum members out their that have done this mod to their w202's, w210's I thought this would be the best place to ask a question or two.
I know I will have to splice the L.E.D. repeater into indicator circuit, but the main plug I knew would be different and that it is best to change out the 210 mirror plug for a 202 item. In doing this I will need the pt. no.'s for the 202 mirror plug which is rectangular with a oval/round plug moulded on the side of it and the pins which fit it, can any one help me? Also I have noticed a difference in the plugs and the amount of cables for the auto-dimming glass, any one know the solution?
I,m looking for a O/S dimming glass are the mirror glasses on the W203 the same? as the mirror motor has a 203 pt. no. on it, and the glasses do look very similar shape.
Any help very much apprciated.

Hi Alps,
Thank you for your reply, I,ve had a look on there and I could,nt find the pt. no. listed I will change my search keywords and try again.
Just for curiousity when you fitted your 210 mirrors did you change the plugs on the mirror? or did you take the loom out of your old 202 mirrors and put them in the 210 mirrors?

I'm interested in this mod too, as I want to do this rather than have the mirrors sit on my shelf as I think they will look great with the WALD bodykit.

no probs, look for "blinking mirrors"

I cut the looms and soldered new pins and put on new plugs (old stlye) onto the mirrors. You can also carefully take out the loom from your old mirror and add 2 extra pins for the indicator and put that into the plug on the morror end, and add 2 extra corrosponding pins onto the car end, so its all plug and play.

fyi

Power Folding Wire Harness 210 540 85 13 Facelift type
Power Folding Switch 210 820 20 10 Facelift type

the connector at the mirro is numbered...

1 & 2 are heated glass
3, 4 and 5 are for mirror adjusting
1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 sit in the exact same order as the wires in the oldstyle mirror sit (as in black-red...brown...and then the grey/white/black)
6 and 7 are always colored (black-white and brown) and are for the blinker
8 is empty
9, 10, 11 & 12 are memory - you don't need those
13 & 14 are folding (green and yellow)
15 & 16 are dimming (pink-black & pink-red)

hope that helps, i have the part #`s for the actual plugs and pins somewhere written down, but they are at my mums, next time im over i`ll try and find them (maybe a few weeks time tho).

i had to get an extra loom for the auto dimming also.

hope that helps

Anywhere between 80 to 100 pound depending on which seller you get them from on ebay. Otherwise be prepared to pay anywhere between 150 and 200 for a set off a breakers.

Hi,
I just paid £225 minus O/S mirror glass, there seems to be loads of sets of non folding ones, folding ones seem to be quite a bit harder to source.

With the folding ones, do you need to get the switch to make them fold ?...where would you mount that switch on a w202 ?

Hi,
To make your mirrors folding you,ll need (beside the folding mirrors) a switch fitted in the centre console just to drivers side of mirror adjustment switch and a wiring loom, if your car is a facelift 202 Alps has posted the wiring loom and switch pt. no.'s.

Hi Alps
If you could remember those pt. no.'s next time your at your mum's it would be very much appreciated. I,m goin to my local MB dealers Friday and will get them to try to identify the numbers of the 202 mirror plug and pins, if successful (I doubt it though) I,ll let you know.
Regarding your auto dimming I have fitted a Auto-Dimming RVM and I,ve ordered a loom to power up the drivers side door mirror from the RVM. But in my many wanderings around Mercmans yard I now realise that to fit the dimming door mirror to my original 202 mirrors I would need an additional short loom in the mirror itself from the main mirror plug to the connector on the mirror glass.
But if memory serves the 202 loom has 4 cables for the mirror dimming and the connector for the dimming on the back of the 210 mirror glass has only 2.
Did you have this problem? If so how did you get over it?
What extra loom did you have to buy?
Many thanks.

good luck with the MB dealer! i`ll check for the part numbers next time in there.

if you plan to put an autodimming mirror glass on a non-autodimming mirror, then yes. but if your 210 mirrors already have the autodimming glass in it, then the wiring should already be there.

my 210 mirrors had autodimming, folding already there, just needed to buy all the looms on the car side.

ok, some more part numbers

003 545 48 26 - car side pins for round connector
017 545 63 28 - mirror side pins for round connector

019 545 56 28 - i think this is the mirror side square connector pins

heres some more off the invoice, but cant be sure which is which

202 889 00 25 (x2) covering
002 545 82 26 (x2) pin bushing housing
003 545 02 26 (x10) contact spring
013 545 90 28 (x2) plug
022 545 42 28 (x2) pin bushing housing
017 545 63 28 (x10) plug pin
022 545 43 28 (x2) plug
003 545 48 26 (x1) round pin bushing
017 545 63 28 (x11) plug pin
003 545 48 26 (3) round pin bushing

I would advise to buy one of each (as they are pennies), then order the quantity you need when you know whats what!

I done this mod 6 years ago! (going by the parts invoice) even i was shocked how long its been. so please check the prices when you order, most parts were under 50p each.

also, i didnt have power folding so had to make up the round plug on the car side too.

hope that helps
