Yes you will need a navigation CD, I believe v9.1 is the latest. If you hook up a CD changer in the glovebox you can keep the navigation CD in the Comand and play/change CDs from the changer.

Don't buy it from a seller from Poland, Lithuania and the like, they have been ripped out of cars with no care and attention, possibly nicked.

If you want comand, try our very own alfie, plus you do get peace of mind with him.

Why sellers from Poland, Lithuania and the like (like what?) must have "dodgy" stuff?
It happens that I know few people from Poland and I'm sure that they would never sell dodgy part. Also, it's strange that prices are lower but stuff comes with warranty.

Of course not always. And of course not every one is a good seller. But that's why there are comments on ebay.

Cheers
Chris

The '56 W203 is COMAND-APS and uses DVD as navigation disc. Once the route has been calculated the disk can be removed, although I think you would loose the advantage on TMC adjusted routing.
I think you can play CDs whilst using Navigation. To save the swapping get a CD changer or iPod connected

If you read one of the posts from Alfie on here, his post says to avoid sellers of Comand from Poland. Sorry if I offended you, it was not meant to say that all sellers of everything from Poland are dodgy.

I would also like to re-iterate that not all sellers on ebay are rogues, whatever country they come from.

We have seen some very 'unusual/suprising quality' items brought to us by customers who have purchased from ebay in eastern europe. Thats not to say they are all bad. They are not.

I'm not offended. I was just surprised that those two countries were brought up.

Nothing big

I think they were brought up purely because Poland an Lithuania have sellers, more so than other countries, who regularly advertise on ebay UK thats all.

TBH I'm looking into fitting COMAND into my car (W203, pre-facelift) but have to see how it looks like in action so hopefully at next GTG I will decide!

And yes, I've seen cheap COMAND units on ebay and always thought that they are cheaper because in Poland most things are cheaper (like labour).
In UK fitting COMAND professionally would cost me around £1k - same thing in Poland is around £600-£700
I'm IT guy and probably can do this by myself so I'm looking for parts only.
And the problem is that parts will cost me nearly same as fitted COMAND...

I can't wait GTG in June!

Many thanks
Chris

Let me put my 2p here.
This may be just because some people found how to make some money on prices difference between these countries?
There is many Poles and other Eastern Europe people around in UK.
I am originally from Poland that's why I am bringing this up.
Of course there may be nicked items but equally from people around the world.
Cheers

Totally agree with you.

I have often wondered why there are so many Lithuanian sellers and not Latvian, Estonian or any other country. Maybe they are just more enterprising?
