2000MY CLK Windows - Do they drop?

Hi,

I did do a search but the matter seemed unanswered?

My recent purchase has a little whistle for both the windows which is quite annoying, I happened to show the car off to a friend who is a paint sprayer and he mentioned that the windows should drop.

I wonder if the 'whistle' and fact the windows don't drop are connected? If not does anyone know how I can sort the whistle please?

On the later 208's they did drop. The whistle is probably due to incorrecty adjusted windows/doors

What do you mean the windows should drop ? just a few mm when you open or close the doors ? or the back windows ?

The back windows are fixed and don't go down at all , and IIRC the fronts don't drop when you open or close the door ... they just compress under the seal... certainly on ours they don't drop ...

Thanks guys. I was referring to the fronts, how late a 208 did they start dropping?

Out of curiosity (and the dire need to get rid of the annoyance!) how do I adjust the windows? The noise is coming from where the base of the window meets the base of the B pillar.

I just thought it was too much of a coincidence for them both to go in the same place?

adjustment is not that easy if you are not handy with the tools as the adjustments are infinite and fiddly.

Door panel has to come off for proper adjustment.

I don't mind getting my hands dirty, I'm far from able to do engine changes but I'm getting to be a dab hand with door cards recently!

Got to be worth a go, do you know what needs adjusting? The extra noise just isn't fitting and niggles really get to me!

I have tried to explain how to do this and as black says its fiddly. , Best done with a piece of very thin card, but the snag is if you move the glass over to far in the area of the bigger gap then you throw the problem to the other end of the glass as the end that you adjusted puts too much pressure over the whole glass and transfers the problem to there. The trick is just a few microns at a time, but do check when you start that it is not the other end that is too tight causing the problem

A how to on removing the door cards and thats it, in terms of the overall door closing, the rear of the door should sit 1mm proud of the next door or rear wing, depending on the car
