W202 rear speakes

Had a pleasent evening swapping the front paper coned merc speakers in my w202 to a set of half decent clarion custom fit's i got from ebay new and sealed in the box for the sum of 20 pounds..

At the moment I have a Pioneer 6300 with sub direct so i can run a 8" sub direct from the head unit.

Has any one had any sucess upgrading the rear parcel shelf mounted bass speakers?

My car appears to have factory fitted bass speakers and cross overs. But they sound awfull and distort a lot.
