Hi Pammy - welcome. I've had my W211 for 7 months and only just realised there is a jack in the glove box for aux input

Someone will be along to ask you the right questions about which entertainment unit you have etc and offer more help.

Hope you're enjoying the car. Nice choice.

Is it a standard MB head unit or aftermarket headunit?

Thanks for the quick replies...I will check the glove box out to see if the Aux thing is in there...and it is a standard MB stereo (head unit?)

If you have a CL500 with a DVD navigation head unit (the DVD unit is in the boot) then it is possible that you have a 3.5mm jack socket inside the glovebox somewhere. If on the otherhand you have a headunit that uses a CD based navigation system easily identified by the disk slot on top of the unit then you will need to purchase a cable that is fitted to the back of the headunit, unfortunately this means the centre console must be removed to get at the back of the unit. Both headunits will then play the iPod music through the AUX channel.

If you do not have the 3.5mm jack there isnt really much available apart from a fm modulator type ipod transmitter, basically it turns your ipod audio into a short range radio station which your radio picks up and plays through the speakers. there are a vast difference in quality and price with these units, if you need more info pm me.

Hi Pammy
My first time as well!
I've a CL500 a little older than yours and a quick double check of the glove compartment shows no 3.5mm jack.
When I first bought the car iPhone connectivity was one of the first things on my list of things to do. I have to confess I've not bothered - I've found the cassette to 3.5mm works way better than I expected.
The fm thingy I tried before it was useless; and was supposed to be a good one.
The cassette to 3.5mm is a Sony and at around £7 was the most expensive I could find even turns down the music down for incoming calls and hands free using the speakers and iPhone mic is better than you'd expect.
It's not the perfect solution but it's a good interim/cheap solution; for the long term solution I'll keep an eye out here...

Hi Pammy,
a good option is to record your fav tunes on a DVD disc as you have the option to play one on your head unit so you can record loads on and scroll through on the screen to play them. My Sl did not have an Aux in the glove box although it showed 2 available on the screen. They are inputs on the amp at the back that you can connect to but you get wires all over so easier with a DVD disc.
