It still wouldn't matter other than for the damage to her own car (and even then it probably wouldn't)

Once an insurance contract is in force and is still in force there is nothing the insured can do that will invalidate the ability of a 3rd party to make a claim.

Quite right DM, but it would still be expensive for the colleague as their own car isn't going to get a payout for damage.

A situation best avoided whatever!
