I've just taken delivery of an Aug02 CLK320.
It is fitted with a 6310 Car kit in the armrest but I don't have a 6310 :(
What am I best to do? Change the kit for a Siemens one or buy a 6310?
Also what phones would work with command etc using the MB 6310 in armrest kit?
Also certain features of the SatNav are blanked out in the options list eg TMC. I assume that this is because the CD is too old/wrong? If so what are the recommendations for a decent TMC enabled CD (if indead TMC is worth having)?
Thanks in advance
Andy

Best bet is to buy a 6310i phone as Mb dont support anything else. But, do check that the phone controller on teh car is for the 6310i and not the previous 6210 , the difference is a new controller at £200 ish.
To get TMC you need a TMC enabled Map disc . try teleatlas.co.uk .

I bought a sim-free 6310i a year ago, cost £170 this means I can buy and change sim cards, for example when going overseas, it also does a great job with the comand system. I have seen them now for £90 on ebay.

A 203 820 51 85 is the current PSE for a 6310i. MBUK = £238.50 (none available on ebay currently.)
A 203 820 25 85 is now obsolete but may work.
If you have to buy a phone, don’t even think about using anything other than a 6310i, but if you have a 6210, that should function OK. A 6210 will also function with older PSE’s which can be bought for next to nothing.
I have COMAND and the full factory fitted (previously 6210, now upgraded to 6310i) phone kit in the armrest. All I did was swap out the PSE to a A203 820 51 85. I then reinitialised the COMAND (after entering the service menu, which anyone can do) and it worked straight away. No need for the stealership to reprog anything IF just upgrading.
In a W209 CLK the PSE is centrally located between the spare wheel and the back seats. Simple to replace.
For those interested, in the description attached to the phone cable set (link below), there is a lot of info (in English) and part numbers associated with installing a phone from scratch.

Re TMC the option on the Comand automatically becomes available when you install the LATEST TeleAtlas disc (WITH TMC, not the basic disk). £160

Thanks guys
I had mentioned it to the MB dealer who ordered the new cradle for the Siemens but it wouldn't fit - strangely since it was designed for the new UHI system.
The phone kit definitely seems to be for a 6310 since this was the manual that came with it (although the phone didn't) but a friends 6210 seemed to work fine when I tested it.
I guess this is probably the cheapest option
TMC - again the dealer said - Not available in the UK yet - but as you Steve & Ralph said the teleatlas disks do say TMC enabled and compatable with the MB COMMAND.
So much for dealers knowing anything!

Even if you get the new disk that enables TMC it probably will not work in the UK. I have the W211 comand 2004 3.0 which has TMC. It worked a treat coming back through Germany, etc, showing me little symbols on congested parts and even guided me around one major traffic delay  . Unfortunately it gets no signals in the UK so I can't use it here. I have seen it mentioned that it might be available sometime.

Try tuning your radio to Classic FM - I think you'll then find it works fine in the UK - certainly with the TMC teleatlas disk and COMAND 2.0 DX anyway, don't know about the W211 & DVD COMAND ... But I would be surprised if not.

Ive got a w220 with a 6150 car kit. Reading another post by Maff he said you could get a clip for the holder. As the 6150 uses an aerial, Anyone know any more about this clip, or will I need a new holder?
Cheers

Thanks for the tip Sym but I tried and no luck. I believe that COMAND 3 uses a separate tuner for the TMC so you can listen to any station while still receiving traffic information so simply tuning to Classic FM does not help. I guess MB need to update the system so the TMC tuner listens to Classic FM while in the UK that’s assuming they have an agreement worked out. I did find an interesting site about TMC though http://www.tmcforum.com/
