SunRoof on W124

W124 SUNROOF REPAIRS

Does anyone know how the electric motor drive for the Sunroof is set up ie how to set the end stops for SR open/closed/tilt open/tilt closed. The Haynes guide refers you to the dealer for the SR repair, but I have been having a good look myself.

There is a white clutch/gear knob on the motor which seems to control the action of the motor. The motor and cable push/pull are working OK - the front connection had broken off from the sunroof sliding assembly, so there was no movement of the sunroof.

I am now ready to reconnect the drive, but can't figure out what stops the SR from going too far forward/back etc.

The white plastic jobby is so you can operate by hand (using the wheelbrace) in the event of a power problem and roof open sit.

Otherwise - sunroofs - shudder!

Thanks for your reply. There is also another cog wheel on the motor which is the one I mean which can be pulled in and out to different positions (one is a neutral - motor does not drive the cable). What else does this get used for?

Sorry - you clearly know a helluva lot more than me about sunroofs - I just hope mine never plays up!
