 Hi recently bought American 2002 headlights (Clear Lens)i live in the UK. When i brought the car in for its MOT it failed on the headlights due to the beam pointing as if it were a left hand drive car. Is there a switch or something i can do to correct this as Gerrard Mann in UK do not want to know

You put American lenses on a UK car?
You changed the whole lamps or just the lenses?

You can buy converters which correct the beam, they dont look v good, but i think they will get you through the MOT.

Graham i changed the complete Headlights  The guy at the MOT bay said some headlights have a switch to reverse the lights but he could not find any.
Thanks

From what I have read before, I believe the levers fitted to late/current model MB's only perform that of the stick on plastic things you can get. That is to say , it blocks out the harmfull part of the beam, but does not do a full coversion of LHD to RHD beams.
Was it just a cheap deal or is there a reason for having LHD lamps on a RHD car in a RHD country?

I was wondering if the assembly allows for the LH and RH "innards" to be exchanged. Obviously the clear lens does nothing to the beam. Not having had one of these lamps before I havent had a chance to look at what the insides do.
Last week MBenzNL told me he had a set of UK ML Bi-Xenons. Hw might be willing to trade in the USA ones and sell the UK ones to this poor fellow.

see my post in the how to about changing a lens - ok its for the CL - but i bet its pretty similar...
HOWEVER - EPC DOES NOT SHOW LENS AS SEPARATE PART - BUT (oops caps lock ) i bet its possible ;)

Lenses of the newer style headlights (of almost all MB models) are not available seperately...
