brake light fuse

I have had the "bulb failure" warning light on for a few days.
I changed the rear offside brake light bulb which was not illuminating but this did not cure the problem. (the nearside is OK). I swapped the nearside brake light bulb and socket with the defective one and the problem still persisted.

Could it be a problem with the fuse. Are there 2 fuses , one for each brake light and if so where are they ?

Check fit and any discoloured bulbs. I had a bulb showing as faulty, which was actaully still illuminating.

bent out the pins on the bulb holder and this sorted out the problem !
